Enrollment /Admissions Procedures

When a family contacts Bright Futures regarding enrolling their child, it will be determined if there is available space in the classroom for the child’s age group. Children are enrolled on a first-come-first-serve basis depending on availability in the most developmentally appropriate class for the child. Children will be placed on a “wait list” if there is not availability at the time.

Admissions

The admission process begins with a tour of the BFELC facility. If a child has an IEP or IFSP a copy of the plan will be requested for review and the child will be invited to visit for an observation by administration. Children must be able to benefit from participation in a group setting. If after a tour and discussion of the child’s needs it is determined that BFELC is not a good fit for the child, we will offer resources and information about other programs that may benefit the child and family. If it is determined that we can meet the needs of the child, the family may continue with enrollment.

Enrollment

When a family has decided to enroll their child in the program, an enrollment packet will be provided that includes all necessary enrollment paperwork. In the event that a child has a childcare subsidy voucher, a “confirmation of provider form” will be completed by administration and given to the family. The space in the program will be held until the date indicated on the form. We cannot reserve spaces for elongated periods of time. If the voucher is not provided by the date indicated on the form, the space in the program may be forfeited and given to another child. Enrollment paperwork must be

completed and returned at least twenty-four hours prior to the child’s first day in care so that it can be reviewed before the child starts. Enrollment paperwork includes Bright Futures forms, CACFP Food Program form, and documentation of the child’s most recent immunizations and proof of a physical within the past twelve months. If the child has a chronic health condition or allergy, an Individual Health Care Plan and medication authorization forms must be in place before the child can attend. Children may not start attending until all required paperwork has been completed and returned to the office, and we have the medication on site.
